NATIONAL CERTIFICATE LEVEL 2 MECHANICAL ENGINEERING:

Unbeatable first class training in a real life engineering workshop. It doesn’t get more real than this. National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 2) is available free for 19 and under


WHAT YOU WILL GAIN:

Gain a qualification in 21 weeks:

The qualification maybe used in the first stage of an apprenticeship or as the basis for pre-trade courses.It is particularly relevant for students who are wanting to pursue careers in general engineering, machining, tool making, fitting, engineering maintenance, engineering fabrication, and marine engineering.

SKILLS:

Holders of this qualification have the following skills and knowledge relevant to the mechanical engineering industry: 
- Health and safety
- Trade mathematics and mechanics
- Metals and other materals used in engineering
- Fastners and assembly
- Sketching
- Measurement
- Engineering tools
- Machining or fabrication operations
- Welding safety and procedures 
This qualification leads to trade qualifications in mechanical engineering and engineering fabrication at level 4 and 5 on the NQF, and ultimately to the National Diploma in Engineering (Level 6). 



COURSE FEES:

This course is available Free for  students aged between 16 - 19 if they meet the eligibility criteria

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE LEVEL 3 WELDING:

National Certificate Welding (Level 3) free for 16 to 19 for students 20 and over (fees may apply - Student loans and Allowances are available)

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN:

Gain a level 3 qualification in 23 weeks:
  • National Certificate in Welding level 3
On completion, you will be competent to work in a welding environment and be productive in manual cutting and the following down-hand welding techniques:
  • Down-hand manual metal arc welding (MMAW)
  • Down-hand gas metal arc welding (GMAW or MIG)
  • Down-hand gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW or TIG)
SKILLS:

This is an introductory qualification for people wishing to pursue a career in welding. It is aimed at preparing candidates to be productive in the use of basic welding techniques in industry. 
The underpinning knowledge and skills covered in this qualification include welding safety, measurement, use of hand tools, sketching and reading drawings; welding theory for steel, stainless steel and aluminium, and weld quality assurance.​
